CADD Has Struck

The allure of Costume College has hit me.

And hubby wants to go, dressing up for the Gala. It is sooooo weird to see him planning a costume.

And I saw this in my internet ramblings.

And my heart went pitter patter.

I have in my possession a bolt of white silk gauze.  So light I can cut a yard, blow on it and keep it airborne. It is begging for something confectionery to be made of it. This gown screams to silk gauze ruffles and overlay.

But not in black.

I am thinking a medium grey satin with white silk overlay. Red roses, not poppies. I've a feeling this image is French or British in origin, as I don't think any American poppies are red. Well, poppies around here in California are orange. ;) And definitely a dress that could only have been made before the symbolism of a red poppy became what it was after WWI.

This gown is going to pop.

  1. Oh wow I can't wait to see this! Roses on silk sound fabulous.

And to have your husband join in sounds like fun!

  2. I love this style of gown, and you're right--grey and white would look divine!

I'm not sure about indigenous poppies to the Americas--are there any?--but we had red poppies in our garden when I was a kid!

    1. We do have poppies! California Golden Poppies in these parts, which grow in fields and will take over your garden if you let them. They are our state flower.
