Wig time

Wig is  done! Ish!

The crimped tail was a failed experiment from the project. I'll be curling the ends via the hot water bath method to give it a finished look. But yay! Giant hair. It's pretty similar to this in size.

I couldn't find my tiara for this project, so I used this one, which is much longer.

Still not as big as her hair.

This was by far the hardest project I've done in years. Getting the shape and texture right was hard.  I had about half a dozen tries on the shape of the rat. After that, I did the curls. Twice. Had to buy braiding hair to get the long, lanky chunky look could not be achieved with a weave. So all the little weave bits I made didn't get used. Except the wavy bit on the nape of the neck.

But hey, the braiding hair was $ 8 a pack with the added benefit of keeping its twist.

What you can do with a hank or two of this stuff. Will definitely be making a smaller hair piece out of the second pack.

And a close up of the semi-finished wig. While the above is lovely, I wanted something looser with a few curls. I used a pack of braiding hair to cover most of the rat, make sure I had a loopy drape in the back, then filled in the empty spots with curls from the wig.

I'd tried using 2 packs of braiding hair, but that was waaaaaaay to heavy. Lovely, but headache inducing. This has the same volume without the weight. Opening up the hanks of brading hair and weaving them together (and with the curls) did as much as twice as much hair.
