Test 2

Yeah, really should have done some experimenting before I decided on this grand lark of a science project. Getting the gathering and wrapping right has been a lot harder than I thought it would. Tried again last night, only this time I did cartridge pleating at the top and bottom of my sample.
It be fluffy. My stitches are roughly 1/4 on an inch a part. I marked the stitchlines with a pen, as hey, it's a sample. The cartridge pleating made the finished piece even smaller. I used bias tape to make a fabric mummy.
Still can't get over that is 55 inches of fabric, gathered into that little bundle. Screw 1:3, 1:55! Hit it with my iron, let it cool completely. This is the result.
The pleats are much tighter, and very irregular. Would be perfect for certain period styles. But it's not this:
Think I am going to have to smock it. And if I have to hand smock it, am sooooo not doing 12 samples. This stuff is so light weight and flemsy doing a smaller test size would be really hard.
