The fit on this dress for me is weird. It is clearly designed for stronger shoulders than mine, and am having trouble reconciling the cut of the sleeves with the fit on my shoulders. The image on the package shows barely any sleeve, while on me there is a huge sleeve. (Edited to take it back - the line drawing on the package shows next to no sleeve, while the package front does) Am soooo used to more fitted garments, so am kind of at a loss on how to deal with this, other than cut them shorter.
And yes, I sewed the top seam inside out. Oops. I learned on my last muslin to screw doing the pinning - even being as careful as I was I was holding my shoulders weirdly, which is why I had to cut a 2nd bodice.
To account for my short waistedness am going to cut a inch out of the waist seam, which will help with some of the bagginess in the front and back (especially the front). Am considering slightly rouching the side inset, to essentially do the same thing. And I will be cutting down the neckline slightly, as it is a bit too high for an evening event.

The back with the self sash looks like it is going to be nice.
ReplyDeleteLove how the back looks! Thanks. The front, not so much. Can't tell if it because the muslin is more grabby or it is a cut issue. No zipper so it does hang a little weird
